Pay It Forward Day is this Friday. It’s an initiative to encourage small acts that would then create a ripple effect of kindness. A belief that these small acts — when multiplied by millions of people — can impact the community for the better.
Here at GasBuddy, we want to take this opportunity to celebrate our version of “paying it forward” — Report It Forward, Everyday.
GasBuddy is about people working together to find the Perfect Pit Stop. This could come in the form of giving someone a heads-up about the state of gas station restroom (Watch Out!), providing a tip on where the tastiest coffee is on your way to work (Best Bet!) and — yes — finding the best fuel deals in your neighborhood.
Today we are happy to reveal two new features on the home screen that will help you understand the role you have in the community and to save everyone even more money. Each gas price you report has an impact and now you will know the quantifiable impact and savings directly on your home screen.
“MY COMMUNITY”: HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE I HELPED?
The My Community card shows how many fellow GasBuddies saw the gas prices you reported. GasBuddy depends on folks like you and me to report prices to ensure they are as real-time and accurate as possible…this way we can all make the smartest decisions as to where to stop and save. No one likes overpaying!

“PRICE RANGE NEAR YOU”: HOW MUCH CAN YOU SAVE?
Gas prices can vary dramatically from street corner to street corner. In some quarter-mile radiuses, the difference between gas prices could be as much as $1/gallon. With the new “Price Range Near You” feature, you will be able to quickly know the exact amount you can save between the lowest and highest stations near you.
