HURRICANE RECOVERY: Report Price ‘Gouging’ in the GasBuddy App

|

To help protect motorists, GasBuddy has added a new feature that enables drivers in hurricane-affected areas to take and submit photos of station prices that appear to be abnormally high (i.e. more than $1.50 above what would be considered “normal” for the area). Areas affected include Florida, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana and Arkansas.

Price ‘gouging’ in times of distress is illegal. We want to ensure that drivers who are impacted by the hurricanes do not pay more than they have to.

TO REPORT EXTREME PRICING (in-app only):

  • Make sure to update your app to the latest version on Android and iOS.
  • Select the station in the ‘FIND GAS’ tab and select Report Prices.
  • At the bottom of the report prices screen, select “Seeing Extreme Prices?”
  • On the next screen, upload a photo of the gas station prices and add a brief description to ensure reporting accuracy.
  • GasBuddy is a smartphone app connecting drivers with their Perfect Pit Stop™. With nearly 70 million downloads, GasBuddy is the leader in crowdsourced information to help drivers find the best gas prices, closest stations, friendliest service, cleanest restrooms, tastiest coffee and much more. GasBuddy is the leading source for the most accurate, real-time fuel prices at more than 140,000 gas stations in the U.S., Canada and Australia.
