HURRICANE RECOVERY: Report Price ‘Gouging’ in the GasBuddy App

|

To help protect motorists, GasBuddy has added a new feature that enables drivers in hurricane-affected areas to take and submit photos of station prices that appear to be abnormally high (i.e. more than $1.50 above what would be considered “normal” for the area). Areas affected include Florida, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana and Arkansas.

Price ‘gouging’ in times of distress is illegal. We want to ensure that drivers who are impacted by the hurricanes do not pay more than they have to.

TO REPORT EXTREME PRICING (in-app only):

  • Make sure to update your app to the latest version on Android and iOS.
  • Select the station in the ‘FIND GAS’ tab and select Report Prices.
  • At the bottom of the report prices screen, select “Seeing Extreme Prices?”
  • On the next screen, upload a photo of the gas station prices and add a brief description to ensure reporting accuracy.
  • For budget-minded drivers, GasBuddy is the travel and navigation app that is used by more North American drivers to save money on gas than any other. Unlike fuel retailer apps, as well as newer apps focused on fuel savings, GasBuddy covers 150,000+ gas stations in North America, giving drivers 27 ways to save on fuel. That’s why GasBuddy has been downloaded nearly 90 million times – more than any other travel and navigation app focused on gas savings.
